The Main Bodies are
- the Conference of Leaders and Heads of State, which meets once a year in the rotating presidency and alternately in the capitals of the States;
the Executive Board, responsible for the preparation of programs and complementary plans and the implementation of decisions of the Conference of Leaders and Heads of State;
- the General Secretariat responsible for the daily management and monitoring of the functioning of the various institutions of the Community;
Sahel-Saharan Bank for Investment and Trade (BSIC)) created in 1999 and charged including financing economic development project;
the Economic, social and cultural advisory body for the design and development of policies, economic nature of plans and programs, social and cultural member countries.
On 20 June 2009 , Pedro Pires , President of Cape Verde visiting Libya , announced in Tripoli the decision of Cape Verde to join the Community of Sahel-Saharan States. Cape Verde will become the 29 th member country of this organization established on 4 February 1998 3.
